De-stress like the dude

THE BEST LIFE

by J. Rentilly 19 July 2013, 05:44 on the EDT

You know him best as the age, the iconic Slacker in the Big Lebowski, but Jeff Bridges can do a whole lot more than shell and robes to wear.

In classical movements such as Starman, The Fisher King and crazy heart-for which he won an Oscar in 2010 - the actor has shown, the nature of the area, compassion and depth, calling the film critic Pauline Kael, led bridge "the most natural and least self-conscious actor who ever lived."

And now in R.I.P.D., a playful supernatural buddy COP adventure in theaters today bridges goes for broke against the backdrop of special effects. But in "Real life" bridges is far more moving than the character, he plays in R.I.P.D. – and circulating cooler than the dude himself, it is even possible. Here divides the longtime meditator such as inner peace is possible, even in one of the most frantic industries on Earth.

Men's health: Your R.I.P.D character is a Marshall from the 1800s years solve supernatural crimes in modern times. Did you ever feel like a man out of time itself?

Jeff Bridges:[Laughs] Yes. Oh, Yes.

MH: A look at some of your best roles, many of them are fish from the water boys, the maybe not where you expect.

Bridge:This could go for many of the characters I've played. I feel safe in my own life. I say often, "what I'm doing to the devil? Look at this!" It is the song of the talking heads. [Ed Note: "Once in a Lifetime."]

MH: So how to stay grounded? What is the key to the makes pleasant and unpleasant it through a day full of surprises, as are so many days?

Bridge:I think to keep a good, cheerful attitude, is good for your mental health and your physical health. Positive energy and a curious mind things really good. Perspective means a lot in life. We all have negative thoughts. Can hook those and carry with them, and they can be taken away, where you are and the time you're in actually, that could be beautiful. It is practice.

MH: As a longtime meditators have any advice for guys who want to give it a try?

Bridge: I am interested in spiritual things, since I was a kid, and somehow looked in all religions and spiritual practices. I always thought "Oh, I want to try that thing meditation one day." Finally, a friend of mine started, and I have introduced Alan Watts. When I for the first time I realized somehow sat, is it no matter the size. Follow the breath. You're sitting. You make your opinion. It's just not that big a deal. You can not really wrong done. How do you do it? You just do it. Like so many things in life. You sit there and work with what comes, and then let it go. So many of us in life, we resist things that we are not "good". We shy away from these things. But meditation is all about the spirit of beginners themselves. No matter how long you've meditated most of us have even the beginner's mind, and that's a good thing. This means that there is always room for growth and possibility. I like that.

MH: You seem to be a pillar of the obligation. You've been acting your whole life. You have been married for 35 years. This is something many men struggle with. What is the key to engagement?

Bridge:Well, you keep it. I've recently heard a great slogan from Jack Canfield. He told me: "You never can get wrong, because it is never done." I kinda like. Life has everything to do with commitment. A lot of times, people hit a wall. In marriage, you say "I'm outta here." But everything is feasible. It is like you in the head. You can use the hand you have covered no matter where you are, no matter what it is, the work. So why not be committed?
